“ARTISTS OF LAS VEGAS”
SHOWCASES LOCAL ORIGINAL ARTWORK
“Artists of Las Vegas”, a
new organization dedicated to promoting Las Vegas artists, debuts
this weekend with an exciting new art exhibition as part of the
World Gourmet Summit at the World Market Center.
The 2-day event is called
the Grand Gourmet Safari Trail, organized and attended by top Chef’s
of the food and beverage industry. (see
www.worldgourmetsummitlasvegas.com)
The art exhibition will
be open Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8 and 9, from 12:00 noon to 6:00
p.m. in the registration pavilion.
Featured local artists
include famous and new Las Vegas talent, such as Terri Ritter,
Susanne Forestieri, Yolly Torres, Ruel James, Jane Marquez and
sculptress Vera Richarda.
Exciting new artwork
includes paintings of showgirls as well as original paintings
celebrating famous musicians such as Ray Charles, B.B. King, Louis
Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald.
Work of at least 17 local
Las Vegas artists will be on display, including the work of photo
artists David Lancaster and Alon “S”.
David’s new series
“Abstract Ice Portfolio” as well as Dolores Nast’s original
paintings of fruits and vegetables will flow well with the food and
beverage theme of the event.
Artists of Las Vegas
founder Andreas Adrian foresees an interesting event because the
range of the artwork on display will range from Still Life through
Cubism to exciting new artwork depicting showgirls and Las Vegas
cityscapes. Interest is already brewing for the paintings depicting
entertainment and musicians, items which usually sell fast to
collectors.
Artists of Las Vegas was
founded by Andreas Adrian, an art collector and Las Vegas native
since 1997.
Originally designed to
assist some of Andreas’ artist friends to sell their artwork, the
organization has quickly expanded to exhibit and sell artwork of at
least 17 local Las Vegas artists.
Besides selling local
artwork through their website
www.artistsoflasvegas.com and weekend
exhibitions, the goal of the organization is to promote Las Vegas
artists not just within the valley, but to take the artwork to
California, Arizona, Utah and Colorado to promote Las Vegas and Las
Vegas Art.
Andreas claims that even
local residents in the market for new artwork and interior designers
used to stray outside of the city to purchase art. But he is
convinced that Las Vegas has extremely talented artists and their
artwork should be available for every resident to see and purchase.
Besides local art
galleries, Artists of Las Vegas, through monthly exhibits, strives
to ensure that the full spectrum of available local artwork will be
represented and available to purchase, hence supporting the local
art scene and promoting Las Vegas art.
The organization is
always open for new artists.
The event on Saturday
will feature an auction with items from the food and beverage being
auctioned off, as well as some pieces of art. Vera Richarda, who
recently introduced her new line of bronze sculptures based on
history and ancient Greek mythology, donated her sculpture
“Penthesilea” to be auctioned off Saturday with proceeds benefiting
hospitality students.
This event is open to the
public and everyone has a chance to bid on the sculpture.
