| Artist Bio:
Vera Richarda
As a child, Vera started creating small
pottery, out of clay, which she found in a small swamp near her parents
home. She got so involved in her early work that she forgot the world
around her, being involved in her own private world of life and clay.
In later years her work and fascination
for clay was surpressed by school and her a life consisting mostly of a
daily routine of working in unattractive office space.
Only in her early 40's, Vera discovered
her former passion again. In Las Vegas she studied under famous sculptor
Roberta Baskin-Sheffrin. Since then, Vera creates one fascinating piece
of artwork after another. Penthesilea is one of her first sculptures of
a new era of pieces, originating in ancient Greek myth, European history
and esotheric circles.
The artist works without any plans,
drawings or drafts. In the early stages of any new sculpture she has no
idea what type of person Vera wants to create, except for the definition
of female or male. But usually after a few hours of intense trance-like
sculptoring, visions appear, guiding Vera to the shapes and demeanors
which then create a new unique sculpture of her new era. |

Mary Magdalene, a woman from Galilee,
was one of many healed by Jesus Christ. She was very
important to him and became one of his apostles,
following Jesus to Jerusalem. When he was crucified,
Mary Magdalene was kneeling under the cross and kept
praying for Jesus, while the other Apostles were
fleeing. When Jesus was resurrected, he appeared to
Mary Magdalene and gave her his last message for the
Apostles. From that time on, she was called by the
honorary name “apostola apostolorum”, which
means "The Apostle of the Apostles".
In
regards to Mary Magdalene, Vera gave this lovely and
adorable sculpture an appearance of grace and
holiness. The beautiful white scarf and the white
marble base contribute to the glowing appearance of
an innocent Mary Magdalene. A blessed and longing
look in her eyes, paired with her braveness and
loyality to Jesus, strengthened the holy appearance
of this unique sculpture |
